Vikings Dominate Greenwood in 35-14 Victory

VIKINGS DOMINATE GREENWOOD IN 35-14 VICTORY

Spartanburg earned a 35-14 win over Greenwood with a strong performance on both sides of the ball. Kingston Culp opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run, but Greenwood led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter. Spartanburg answered in the second quarter when quarterback Connor Abrams connected with Jacaydn Woodruff on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Quin Scales added the extra point to give the Vikings the lead. Jordan Foster added a 20-yard touchdown run later in the quarter, helping Spartanburg take a 19-14 lead into halftime. Spartanburg came out of halftime with momentum, recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half. The Vikings capitalized when Abrams connected with Woodruff again, this time on a 40-yard touchdown pass. Scales made the extra point to extend the lead to 26-14. The defense added to the lead when Braydon Jeter recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown, helping push Spartanburg ahead 33-14 by the end of the third quarter. Brayden Teague added another big defensive play in the fourth quarter, recording a sack in the end zone that resulted in a safety and made the final score 35-14. Abrams finished with two touchdown passes, both to Woodruff. Culp and Foster each added rushing touchdowns, while Jeter added a defensive touchdown and Teague recorded the safety. Both JV and C Team will travel to Irmo next Thursday night to face the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes.
