Spartanburg High School is proud to announce the appointment of Caleb Gaither as Head Boys Basketball Coach. Gaither previously coached the Vikings from 2022-2023 before transitioning into his current role as Athletic Director at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, S.C. He returns to Spartanburg High School with a distinguished record of coaching excellence, program leadership, and athletic administration. A Proven Winner with Extensive Coaching and Administrative Experience Gaither's impressive coaching resume includes a South Carolina High School League AAAA State Championship and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association AAAA Basketball Coach of the Year award, both of which were earned in 2017 during his tenure as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, S.C. He also earned Region IV-AAAAA Coach of the Year honors during his time at Northwestern High School in 2022. Over the course of his career, Gaither has served as a head coach at multiple high school programs and as an assistant men's basketball coach at the collegiate level at Lander University. His coaching experience spans boys basketball, JV baseball, and cross country, and his administrative background includes assistant athletic director roles at Dorman High School and South Pointe High School. As Athletic Director at Northwestern, he oversees more than 600 student-athletes across a full range of varsity, JV, and sub-varsity programs. His administrative expertise includes budget management, transportation coordination, student athlete eligibility compliance, facility oversight, booster club relations, and South Carolina High School League regulatory compliance — a depth of knowledge that will strengthen the Viking basketball program both on and off the court. Gaither holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education – Fitness Wellness from Winthrop University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Western Kentucky University, expected in 2028.
